School board may sue over school takeover

Following a decision by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education to assume control of eight local schools, the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board is considering a lawsuit to prohibit or limit such school takeovers.

On Thursday, BESE voted to take the Baton Rouge schools, as well as two in Caddo Parish. Later that day, the EBR board met to consider its options. Advocate reporter Charles Luissiere covered the issue for this report.
